You keep up my faith in the - generally far too inane - world of blogging.<BR/><BR/>The past decade we have been and still are living through takes me back to my childhood in the 1930s - the decade of Munich, which I vividly remember. There was the same air of menace, and widespread feeling of helplessness, as we saw unavoidable disaster looming. <BR/><BR/>Then, as now, there were plenty of powerful rogues around, saying one thing and doing the opposite, and even more ostriches who buried their heads in the sand and really believed that the blinkered though sincere Chamberlain had obtained "peace in our time" by meeting Hitler. <BR/><BR/>I am glad that my family were more realistic, and staunchly supported Churchill's warnings of the Nazi menace.
