Pak Sex Slave Ring in UK, Part 5

We continue from Part 4, concluding our review of Mothers of prevention:

A number of families affected by Pakistani pimping gangs have said that police inaction and the refusal of white liberals to acknowledge the problem has resulted in more girls being at risk than ever before. "We are still battling to get recognition that what we are dealing with is organised crime against children," says Kosaraju.

It is not just a refusal of liberals (who are not just white).

Sunny Hundal, editor of the online magazine Asians in Media, has followed the phenomenon of Asian pimping gangs. "Although it's obvious that it's young, lawless Pakistani boys,” says Hundal, “it’s tricky to make this an issue about race or religion when neither are contributing factors." However, he does believe some young Asian men "hold very disparaging attitudes towards white girls, thinking they're 'easy'".

There are various types of Asian organized crime. These pimping gangs are not just "Asian", they are Pakistani. Anyone who tries to speak politically-correct newspeak at the expense of accuracy is part of the problem

Jean is a lively woman in her forties, living with two of her three children in a neat terraced house in the east side of Blackburn. Her daughter Sally, coming up to her 16th birthday, is now estranged from her as a result of being brainwashed and abused by men from the Asian pimping gangs. "Sally was a shy girl before this happened," says Jean, "and dressed fairly demurely, but all of a sudden she was wearing heavy make-up and dressed like a prostitute. At that stage I had no idea what was going on."

Jean’s eldest daughter, Sally, was targeted at school at 13 by slightly older Asian boys. They were on the payroll of older men who run pimping operations in the town. The modus operandi of the gangs is that pimps employ school-aged boys to make the initial connection with suitable girls and befriend them. The girls are then introduced to men they are told are older relatives of the boys. The older men take them out in flash cars and buy them gifts. Soon, however, it is payback time, and the girls are sold to men from private flats, hotels and cars.

"All of a sudden Sally was only interested in hanging out with Pakistani boys," says Jean. "She started saying I was racist, and that is why I objected to her hanging out with them."

Another big part of the problem is the vicious way in which the PC elite (and others) attack as racist those who dare to question what is going on.

Consequently, people should not allow the name-calling to deter them.

Jean was soon to find out just how indoctrinated her daughter had become when she discovered Sally's photographs and profile were posted on a website. She was posing with the flag of Pakistan. There were 97 names of Asian men posted on it who had made contact with her. She was asking for Asian men to "date". She said she hated white people. There were other girls' photographs on the site, one of whom Sally had recruited, as were other girls who were being pimped. Jean's boyfriend went online, pretending to be a girl. One of the men asked: "Are you better than Sally?"

The real racists are those who taught a white girl to hate white people. Of course, in the false world of political correctness, where up is down, day is night and wrong is right, this will never be acknowledged.

Preying on her shyness and vulnerability, the pimps told Sally she was beautiful and would be treated like a princess if she showed them loyalty. They also convinced her that her family did not care about her, saying her parents would think she was a "slag" for having Pakistani boyfriends. "We parents are doing more to investigate these criminals than the police," says Jean. "My husband and I have sat for hours outside hot spots, taking down car-registration numbers. I have given the police dozens of names from my daughter's mobile phone, but they have done nothing."

The pimps are adept at trading on teenage rebellion and use similar methods, according to Crop, of convincing the girls all white people are racist. This is part of the controlling process, to instil guilt in the girls. "Like most teenagers, I was going through a phase of arguing with my mum," says Gemma. "Amir told me they didn't understand me and were racist and ignorant. I believed him." Gemma was given an Asian name by Amir, and told she had to read the Koran, a story support workers tell me is not uncommon. "They erode the girls' identities," says Kosaraju, "to make them more compliant and needy."

And the PC elite is every bit as naive as these girls being targeted -- assuming, of course, that the PC elite is not as evil as the criminals pimping the girls.

Few of the girls know, or are willing to acknowledge, they are being pimped. Because they claim to love the men, and think of them as their boyfriends, police often see that as an admission from the girls of consent. "As far as I was concerned, Amir was my boyfriend," says Gemma. "When he told me I had to sleep with his friends, I had no idea he was being paid for it. I was on a lot of drugs and he said I had to pay for them."

It is not just the girls who will not acknowledge the problem.

Where there is pimping, there are other forms of serious and organised crime. Some Asian pimps in Rotherham are also involved in drug dealing and gun crime. Although shootings in the town are rare, the girls caught up with the pimps have disclosed that many of them carry guns. Pimps traffic the girls between towns and cities. The United Kingdom Human Trafficking Centre (UKHTC) has appointed Amanda Palmer, a detective sergeant, to investigate trafficking within the UK. "There is no doubt that, according to current law, these girls have been trafficked,” says Palmer, “but to date, there has not been a conviction under this legislation."

Funny how the different kinds of crimes are related. When you're running drugs or women, you're running cash, and when you're running cash, you're running guns -- if for no other reason to protect yourself, your cash, your drugs and your women.

One of the many tragedies resulting from this phenomenon is how it is fuelling racism and mistrust of whites towards Pakistanis where little existed previously. Although racism can be rife in towns such as Blackburn, Jean claims that before her daughter's life was ruined she bore no animosity towards the Asian community. Things have changed. When ordering a taxi, Jean spends several minutes looking through the telephone directory, explaining she is looking for a "white-run firm". "If an Asian man came to my door, I might have a flashback, and go mad," says Jean.

A key point: refusing to acknowledge the problem, but rather calling "racist" those who point it out, is itself racism and is fueling racism where it has not existed.

In the meantime, organisations such as Crop continue battling with the police to act on the intelligence they have built up. Progress may be round the corner in the shape of the legal action the parents have started – and many parents I spoke to are feeling cautiously optimistic after the convictions of Hussain and Naveed. "This is just the beginning," says Maureen, "but I think it will have sent a message to other abusers that the net is closing in on them and they can no longer get away it."

Gemma's pimp tired of her when she turned 16, but she still has a drug habit and is irrevocably damaged from the sexual torture and degradation she endured. Although many young women do escape the clutches of these predators and go on to repair their lives, some will be drawn into street prostitution, violent relationships and self-harming lifestyles.

Why keep your 16-year-old, when you can trade her in on a newer (13-year-old) model? Consumerism at its best.

Of course, that is no doubt the West's fault, too, for contaminating these noble young Pakistani men with our shallow morals.

Jean’s daughter Sally is in foster care, but is still being picked up regularly by pimps and raped by men who do not even know her name. She is now totally estranged from her mother, whom she recently threatened to stab. "I keep having nightmares about what they have done to her," says Jean, "and about what her life has become. I want to kill them. I have told police to go and do something, or I might lose control and do something myself."

In all of these cities, victims such as Sally are facing an explosive mix of brutality and denial – from the authorities and the Pakistani community. It seems easier for many people to pretend it is not happening. The girls involved just don’t have that choice.

All of the names of victims and their relatives have been changed to protect identities.

Phoenix, Part 4

We continue from Part 3, where we saw how the FBI Field Office in Minneapolis was becoming suspicious of a French citizen named Moussaoui.

Moussaoui was trying to learn how to fly a 747, even though he had no aviation background. Paying for his simulator time with thousands of dollars in cash, his activities aroused the suspicions of his instructors; when the FBI heard about it, Special Agent Harry Samit described the activity, writing in his email: "That's pretty ominous and obviously suggests some sort of hijacking plan."

Information was requested from the French government, and within a week it had been received.

Samit now knew that Moussaoui had been connected to terrorists fighting in Chechnya.

Coleen Rowley, who years later wrote some fairly stinging criticism of how this situation was handled by FBI Headquarters, recommended that, even though a criminal search warrant seemed justified, they seek another type of warrant that should be easier to get.

So, the Minneapolis Field Office sent out a priority communication stating that it believed that Moussaoui was "in the U.S. in preparation for an act of international terrorism".

"Minneapolis opines that Moussaoui and Al Attas were, at the time of their arrest, involved in preparing for a terrorist attack involving a Boeing 747-400 aircraft at the direction of an as yet unknown international radical Islamic fundamentalist group."

Moussaoui was arrested for overstaying his visa, with the goal of his arrest to delay his training on 747-type aircraft; he was being held by the INS pending deportation.

His explanations regarding his reasons for wanting to learn to fly a 747 and his funding of his studies had been unconvincing. "Moussaoui was likewise unable to convincingly explain a trip to Pakistan lasting from December 2000 until February 2001".

The Minneapolis office was requesting a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant, "on an emergency basis", to search Moussaoui's personal property. "Minneapolis wishes to emphasize the urgency of this matter in reminding recipients that Moussaoui is in INS custody pending deportation. Further, it is not yet known how far advanced Moussaoui's plan is or how many unidentified coconspirators exist."

Given Moussaoui's ties to Islamic terrorists in Chechnya, and his trip to Pakistan several months previously, a connection to a foreign power -- Al Qaeda, a well-known thorn in the side of the United States -- was obvious. The FISA warrant had to be granted... or so one would assume.

A Knight for a Fool

"That is not checkmate, Master Bruce."

"What do you mean?" Bruce Wayne looked at Alfred.

"Your queen is not covered. Four moves ago, your knight was here," Alfred explained, pointing at the board, "able to move into the space your queen now occupies. Had you moved your queen in then, she would have been covered by your knight, and I would have been checkmated. But, you moved your knight here," Alfred continued, pointing to Wayne's knight, "and so your queen is not covered. My king can take her. Your knight is no longer protecting her, so you have given her away."

Alfred moved his king forward, and took Wayne's queen.

"Of course, I completely missed it," Wayne replied, staring at the board in amazement. "It's been there right in front of me all along, and I completely missed it."

"It's easy to miss, Master Bruce. One must devote one's full attention to the board when one plays chess, and you have obviously been distracted. You have been seeing how the game develops, but your distractions have kept you from paying adequate attention to some implications of certain moves."

"King takes queen on a knight for a fool...." Wayne quietly said, looking out into the room.

"It was not a good move, Master Bruce, but I would hardly say your mistake qualifies you for a fool."

Wayne looked at Alfred. "Don't you remember? The riddle that Sandra received from Catwoman...."

Alfred looked a little puzzled, so Wayne repeated from memory the riddle that Batman had seen on Dr. Villanova’s balcony:

"Blue is the water by which comes the green.
Tall is the lady; she's Gotham's queen.
Under her eyes, the Roman commands,
Fueling the vices of his empire's lands.
For wont of their vices they give freedom away;
High is the price for their habits they pay.
See the green lady, she is a slave,
See her blue knights, they are but knaves.
Powerful is the Roman, this land he does rule;
King takes queen on a knight for a fool."

"I fail to see the connection, Master Bruce," replied Alfred.

"The Roman is the emperor, and Gotham City is his empire. He is the kingmaker. He has tremendous influence over who is going to be the mayor, who will be on the city council, who will be the judges, and so on...."

"Yes," Alfred nodded.

"The queen is the green lady in Gotham Harbor – the statue...." Wayne continued, as Alfred nodded again. "The queen is our freedom; she is what makes Gotham City worth living in."

Alfred leaned back in his chair, and added, "The mayor is the king, and is threatening our civil rights and freedoms with his War on Crime. Overzealous police have become in some ways a menace...."

"Many police continue to do their jobs honorably and well. Some, however, are on the take, and are merely pawns of Falcone," Wayne continued.

"But some are foolish knights, caught up in the hysteria, and overstepping their boundaries. Instead of protecting Gotham's queen, like they should, they are too focused on going after Aladdin and his henchmen." Alfred paused, thinking. "And Falcone draws them away, just as your knight was drawn away from covering your queen."

"Exactly!" Wayne leaned across the table. "But the real riddle is, who is the Emperor, the kingmaker – who's moving the chessmen?"

"Well, Falcone – we just established that." Alfred blurted out his answer with a note of exasperation.

"That's where our distractions have kept us from seeing the implications of certain moves." Wayne leaned back in his chair, looking thoughtfully out into the room again.

"What do you mean, Master Bruce?"

"Falcone is not the emperor; Falcone is just one of the kings."

Alfred looked at Wayne, studying him closely.

"The mayor is one king, Aladdin is another; but Falcone is not really the emperor. Falcone is just one of the kings. Falcone helps manipulate the mayor, but somebody manipulates Falcone, and it's the same somebody who is manipulating Aladdin."

There was a moment of thoughtful silence, broken by Alfred's next question.

"Why did Batman go to the Roma on Halloween?" Alfred asked, watching Wayne's expression. "Batman risked his life to save Falcone."

"There were several reasons. One was to shake Falcone up some. Another was to save his life." Wayne paused. "Falcone is the key to finding that somebody who is manipulating all of them. I thought it was just a business partner, but now I realize -- that somebody is something more...." Wayne's voice trailed off.

"I feel like Batman is being manipulated, as well," Alfred quietly opined. "Batman is a powerful piece on the board, much like a queen in chess, but Batman has been manipulated ever since this began."

"Yes and no, Alfred," replied Wayne. "Batman is Gotham's Dark Knight, and Batman has been drawn away as well." He paused. "Batman has been distracted, Alfred," Wayne smiled. "And those distractions have kept Batman from seeing the implications of certain moves."

Wayne looked back down at the board, then moved his other knight. "And I believe that is checkmate," he added confidently.

"So it is," Alfred replied dryly, then added, "I remember the good old days, when I could beat you without really trying."

There was a short silence, as Wayne stared off, deep in thought. "Suddenly it all makes sense, Alfred, in light of what Dr. Villanova told Batman over the Thanksgiving holiday."

"That is a part of the story that I believe you have not yet shared."

Phoenix, Part 3

We continue from Part 2.

In Part 1, we saw how the Moussaui trial brought into the open some previously classified documents, including the Phoenix Memo, which was featured in that post, and which anticipated terrorist attacks by Osama bin Laden's organization on US civil aviation.

In Part 2, we saw how the US Government had, before 9/11, been frequently presented with the problem of terrorists (especially bin Laden's crowd) planning to use aircraft as missiles, and contrasted that to Condoleeza Rice's denial that anyone had imagined that could happen.

Now we pick up what was happening in mid-August, 2001, when the FBI in Minneapolis was becoming suspicious of some activity that was being observed.

It seems there was a guy in Minnesota who wanted to learn how to fly 747's, but this guy had no corresponding background in aviation. He was paying thousands of dollars in cash for simulator time.

It turns out the subject was a French citizen, so the agent requested information about him. It was a "weird story" and the agent needed a response in a hurry.

The guy had no pilot's license, and supposedly just wanted to know how to fly a 747.

The agent wrote: "That's pretty ominous and obviously suggests some sort of hijacking plan."

Information Dominance, Part 3

We continue from Part 2 with the testimony of Congressman Weldon before a September 21, 2005, hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee, entitled ABLE DANGER AND INTELLIGENCE INFORMATION SHARING

Another former DOD official told me and your staff and was prepared to testify today--and he is in the room--that he worked on the data collection and analysis used to support Able Danger. He was prepared to state, as he told us, that he had an Able Danger chart with Mohammed Atta identified on his office wall at Andrews Air Force Base until DOD Investigative Services removed it. At risk to his current employment, he has told us and was prepared to testify under oath in direct rebuttal to the claims of the 9/11 Commissioners that he was aware of the purchase of Mohammed Atta's photograph from a California contractor, not from U.S. legal identity documents. He was prepared to discuss the extensive amount of data collected and analyzed about Al Qaeda--

Chairman Specter. Whom are you referring to now, Congressman Weldon?

It is important to recall that, like Sibel Edmonds, these witnesses had been silenced by the Bush Administration. Also like Sibel Edmonds, many of them are dedicated and loyal to the United States.

When silenced by the Bush Administration through legal and administrative means, they found ways to obey the letter of the law or directive, while continuing to act in the spirit of loyalty to the United States, and specifically to our Constitutional form of government. In the Sibel Edmonds case, Edmonds says what she is not prohibited from saying, and, to hear the story of the treason and espionage that holds a death grip not just on the Federal Bureau of Investigation, but on significant other parts of the US Government as well, the listener must hear what is not said! Here in this Senate hearing, the "witnesses" are sitting in the room speechless -- they are prohibited by their superiors in the Bush Administration from testifying before Congress -- yet their presence and their silence speak volumes, as their story is told by others who are not prohibited from speaking, and as they, themselves, do not jump up and down, shaking their heads and flapping their arms in contradiction of the "hearsay" evidence.

Normally it is the bad guys who are slick. Well, I commend all these heroes for being slick in the face of the official pressure brought on them by the corrupt and treasonous criminals who occupy the very highest levels of the federal government of the United States of America.

Representative Weldon. I am talking about J.D., right here, J.D. Smith, in the room. He was prepared to discuss the extensive amount of data collected and analyzed about Al Qaeda, underscoring the fact that Able Danger was never about one chart or one photograph, but rather was and is about massive data collected and assembled against what Madeleine Albright declared to be in 1999 an international terrorist organization. He, too, has been silenced.

Huge quantities of data about one of the most dangerous terrorist organizations in the world, an organization which already had a long history of devastating attacks against the United States (and our allies) -- data that was mostly unclassified....

Another former DOD official will testify today that he was ordered to destroy up to 2.5 terabytes of data. Now, I don't know what a terabyte of data is, so we contacted the Library of Congress. It is equal to one-fourth of all the entire written collection that the Library of Congress maintains. This information was amassed through Able Danger that could still be useful today. He will name the individual who ordered him to destroy that data and will state for the record that the customer for that data, General Lambert of SOCOM, was never consulted about that destruction and expressed his outrage upon learning that the destruction had taken place.

Data which was "equal to one-fourth of all the entire written collection that the Library of Congress maintains" -- 2.5 terabytes! -- nearly all unclassified, and about a terrorist organization which had already killed an incredible number of people, Americans and others... and it was destroyed.

An FBI employee that I identified and has met with your Committee staff and was prepared to testify today that she arranged three meetings with the FBI Washington Field Office in September of 2000 for the specific purpose of transferring Al Qaeda Brooklyn cell Able Danger information to the FBI for their use. In each instance, she has stated that meetings were canceled at the last minute by DOD officials. She has not been allowed to testify publicly today.

The Department of Defense prevented this data from going to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, then prohibited people from talking about the whole topic.

As I point out in the companion series of posts, entitled Phoenix, there are reasons to suspect what the FBI would have done with that data if they had received it. But that is not the issue here; the issue here is why wasn't this information about a terrorist organization which the FBI was investigating and against which the FBI was building cases given to the FBI?

And why have people with pertinent knowledge not been allowed to testify to the US Senate?

The US Congress has the Constitutional obligation of oversight of the Executive Branch. Since officials in the Executive Branch -- the Department of Defense -- are obviously stonewalling Congress, why does the US Congress not begin an investigation of those officials? Congress does have the authority to impeach them.

The 9/11 Commission was created by Congress with my full support. I have publicly championed many of their recommendations. On four separate occasions, I attempted to brief the Commission on specifics related to intelligence problems, lack of intelligence collaboration, the NOAH concept, the National Operations Analysis Hub that I had pursued in 1999 and 2000, and the work of the LIWA and Able Danger. Except for one 5-minute telephone call with Tom Kean, I was unable to meet with 9/11 Commissioners and/or staff. In fact, I had my Chief of Staff hand-deliver questions to be asked of George Tenet and others to the Commission on March 24 of 2004, which I will enter into the record. They were never used and the questions were never asked.

It was, in fact, a member of the 9/11 Commission who encouraged me to pursue the Able Danger story after I briefed him on June 29 of 2005. He informed me that the 9/11 Commission staff had never briefed Commission members on Able Danger. He said that the facts had to be brought out.

When the 9/11 Commission first responded to questions about Able Danger, they changed their story and spin three times in 3 days. This is not what Congress intended. All the people involved with Able Danger should have been interviewed by the 9/11 Commission.

Obviously, the 9/11 Commission's job was to suppress the facts related to 9/11. Their job was to propagate an agreed-upon cover story, and bury all evidence that contradicts that story.

So, what is it exactly that the 9/11 Commission is burying?

(Pela, might it be a dog buried here?)

Because Able Danger ceased to formally exist before the administration came into office, I understand why there might have been a lack of knowledge about the program and its operations. In fact, when I first met with Steve Cambone, and I am the one that introduced him to Tony Shaffer, who is here today, he told me that he was at a significant disadvantage, that I knew more about Able Danger than he did, but that is not an excuse to not pursue the complete story of Able Danger.

If "Able Danger ceased to formally exist before the [Bush] administration came into office," what was the Bush Administration hiding once it was running the show?

In fact, Mr. Chairman, DOD never conducted an actual investigation, and this came up in our Armed Services meeting 2 weeks ago. No oaths were given. No subpoenas were issued. Rather, an informal inquiry was initiated. A thorough review of Able Danger, its operations, and data collected and analyzed, and recommendations for data transfer to other agencies could have and should have been completed by more than one Member of Congress using one staffer.

Whatever it was -- is -- it is something that career officials in the Department of Defense had wanted hidden.

Instead, over the past 3 months, I have witnessed denial, deception, threats to DOD employees, character assassination, and now silence. This is not what our constituents want. It is unacceptable to the families and friends of the victims of 9/11 and flies in the face of every ideal upon which this country was founded.

They wanted it hidden so badly that they denied it, they mislead people, they threatened DOD employees... and they finished (?) by stonewalling Congress.

Over the past 6 weeks, some have used the Able Danger story to make unfair public allegations, to question the intentions or character of 9/11 Commissioners, or to advance conspiracy theories. I have done none of this. When I learned details of Able Danger in June, I talked to 9/11 Commissioners personally and staff. I delivered a comprehensive floor speech on June 27 of 2005 and methodically briefed the House Chairs of Armed Services, Intelligence, Homeland Security, and Justice Appropriations.

Uh-oh -- the attack of the conspiracy theorists!

That is an interesting statement. First, Congressman Weldon points out that some are using this story "to advance conspiracy theories", but then denies doing that himself. However, the Congressman then goes on to say:

This story only became public, even though significant portions were first reported in a Heritage Foundation speech that I gave, still available online, on May 23, 2002, and a Computer World magazine story that ran on January 28, 2003, when Security News ran a story on August 1 of 2005, followed by a front-page story in the New York Times on August 2 of 2005.

My goal now, Mr. Chairman, is the same as it was then, the full and complete truth for the American people about the run-up to 9/11. Many Americans lost family and friends on 9/11. Michael Horacks was a neighbor of mine in Pennsylvania, a former Navy pilot, graduate of Westchester, like myself. He was at the controls of one of the planes on 9/11. He left behind a wife and two kids. We built a playground in his honor at his kids' school.

Ray Downey was a personal friend. As a New York Deputy Fire Officer, he took me through the garage of the Trade Center Towers in 1993, the first time Bin Laden hit us. We worked together. In fact, he gave me the idea for the creation of the Gilmore Commission, which I authored and added to the Defense authorization bill in 1997. On September 11, 2001, he was the New York City Fire Department Chief of All Rescue. The 343 fire fighters, including Ray, who were all killed were under Ray's command as he led the largest and most successful rescue effort in the history of mankind.

I promised Michael's wife and kids and Ray's wife and kids and grandkids that we would not stop until the day that we learned all the facts about 9/11. Unfortunately, Mr. Chairman, that day has not yet arrived. We must do better.

Is there some reason why Congressman Weldon suspects, as of September of 2005, that the "full and complete truth" about 9/11 is not yet out, why we haven't "learned all the facts about 9/11"?

Apparently some group of people in the Department of Defense is working together to stonewall Congress regarding Able Danger.

(Please keep in mind that just because a group of people is working together to stonewall Congress, that should not be construed as to imply that there is a conspiracy.)

Pak Sex Slave Ring in UK, Part 4

We continue with our look at the Pakistani sex slave ring that was discovered in the UK. In Part 1 we began reviewing the article Mothers of prevention; in Part 2 we looked at some other articles to get some more background information. Here in Part 4 we continue from where we left off in Part 3, reviewing Mothers of prevention:

Taxi drivers, shop owners and security guards who work in the shopping arcades where the girls are recruited are also involved, one police officer (who asked not to be named) told me.

Other sources have reported that many taxi drivers belong to the same Pakistani Muslim groups who are involved in drug trafficking. If so, it would make sense that there may also be Pakistani Muslim taxi drivers who are also involved in this illegal activity.

It should be noted that at the end of Part 3 we found out that, while no one ethnic group in the UK has held a monopoly on criminal activity, and in particular prostitution, the organized nature of the Pakistani Muslim participation in prostitution is characteristic of that community.

"Police seem to be very cautious about this. They fear being branded racist," says Mohammed Shafiq, the press spokesman for the Ramadhan Foundation, a Muslim youth education charity based in Rochdale. Shafiq recently tried to address some imams and community leaders, but did not get very far. "They all had a 'no comment' policy," says Shafiq, "but our organisation is clear that it is going on, and that it is linked to drug dealing. We can't simply blame the BNP."

Interesting paragraph for a number of reasons....

First, it strikes a particular note with me, as a commentator to my previous post in this series basically called me a racist, islamophobic Neanderthal for posting about this. That certainly seems to reinforce the idea that one will be branded a racist for discussing crime.

Second, it is the Islamic community here that is speaking out not only against the criminal activity, but also against the name-calling which targets those who try to address the criminal activity. (I wonder if my commentator will notice this?)

At the end of Part 3, I asked the question: "How can you rule out cultural factors without an investigation?"

Is this activity somehow related to Islam? The implication could be that there is something fundamentally wrong with Islam, but not necessarily. There are in the US cults who characterize themselves as "Christian", yet which obviously pervert Christian teachings and use their perverted understanding as justification for organized criminal activity. Is this what is happening among the Pakistani Muslims in this case?

Or, are these people involved in this simply not practicing Muslims? Is it a situation where the Muslims who attend the mosques not only do not participate in this criminal activity, but actively denounce it and try to stop it, while the criminal element are simply not very religious?

Is it possible the Pakistanis involved in this are not Muslims? Pakistan has a sizeable Christian community; in the sidebar, I have a link to a Pakistani Christian newspaper's website. Might the people involved in this be of a Christian background? This is doubtful, since the Muslim community has decided to specifically speak out about this case.

Third, the Ramadhan Foundation spokesman, Mohammed Shafiq, has pointed out that this is linked to drug dealing. This makes sense, as the pimps pry the girls with drugs to get them to submit to the sexual activity (drug-assisted statutory date-rape, basically). It also connects to the other sources I have encountered that paint a picture of Pakistani Muslim gangs that are involved in the taxi industry, which assists with their control of the local drug trade. (As an aside, the connection in those sources is to the heroin trade, a topic about which I have written extensively in recent months.)

As well as simple opportunism, pimping of white females by black and ethnic-minority men can be a type of revenge against whites. "My parents ran a grocery shop," says Hussein, who admits to being part of the pimping gangs in the late 1990s. "They had hardly any money, even though they worked their backsides off. White people treated them like shit, like they were their servants." Hussein says he took "great pleasure" in having young white girls at his beck and call, knowing their parents would be out of their minds with worry. Although Hussein was reported to the police, he was never arrested for any crime, and is now working in Leeds.

While I do not appreciate what Hussein did, I do appreciate Hussein's candid admission of a racial motivation behind targeting white females for pimping.

The issue of black and Asian men being labelled "pimps" is deeply contentious, but not, say parents, a reason for police to turn a blind eye. It can, and does, however, fuel racism. Black men and pimping are linked through popular culture – from the African American Iceberg Slim's classic autobiographical novel, Pimp, to the glamorised depictions of pimping by hip hop and rap artists.

Again, there is a great deal of selectivity in who gets called racist for what reasons.

In 2004, a controversial documentary on the topic of Asian pimps, Edge of the City, focused on the mothers of two girls being pimped by Pakistani gangs in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

But before it could be screened, a number of black and Asian groups, media such as the newspaper Eastern Eye, and websites including Blink (Black Information Link) organised an e-mail petition to pressurise Channel 4 into pulling the programme, arguing that its makers' sole purpose was to perpetuate racism against Asian communities. The channel received over 500 e-mails in protest. The BNP capitalised on the row by hinting that all Asian men were a sexual threat to white girls.

When the truth gets stifled by name-calling and other forms of pressure, resentment builds; if one cannot let off steam peacefully, then the risk of a violent eruption only increases. If decent people cannot openly discuss issues, then the stage will ultimately be left to not-so-decent people, and soon only the racists will be speaking out -- and when they do, there will be an eager audience for them!

The BNP is mentioned in the article twice now, in a negative context. If we assume that everything bad that we have heard about the BNP is true, the blame for it all goes to the oppressive culture of political correctness: just as terrorism is a "natural" and "legitimate" reaction to American and British "imperialism", so then is racism a "natural" reaction to the mental imperialism of political correctness. The PC movement creates the very demons that they claim to protect us from.

Originally due to be screened in May 2004, three years after the Bradford race riots, the documentary was pulled from the schedule at the request of the West Yorkshire Police. A spokesman at the time said police had found no evidence of the alleged systematic exploitation, and the chief constable of West Yorkshire Police warned Channel 4 that he felt the timing of the programme could contribute to community unrest in Bradford and possibly even provoke public disorder in the city.

And so, the media cannot speak out for fear of who will be offended. The police, under threat of "community unrest", censors the media.

Why does the police not, instead, go after the criminals who are being exposed in the documentary? If community unrest results, why don't they go after those who cause it?

Again, some groups can get away with a broad range of crimes, while other groups are oppressed merely for pointing out the existence of the crimes being committed. That sets the stage for violence; the oppressed people who are victims not only of the criminal groups in their midst, but even of police intimidation, may soon feel that extralegal violent means are their only way to protest.

The BNP...?

Two centuries and some decades ago, such oppression at the hands of Crown authorities resulted in a revolution among the Crown's American colonies.
